We Compared Palpabl to Auvik Here's What We Found.

Looking for an Auvik alternative? We compared Palpabl and Auvik side by side — features, pricing, and UI. Here’s what we found, and why we built something different for SMBs and growing MSPs.

Why We’re Writing This

We didn’t build Palpabl because we thought the network monitoring space was

empty. We built it because we kept hearing the same thing from IT teams and MSPs: the tools they were using were powerful on paper but painful in practice. Too complex. Too expensive to scale. Too slow to actually use under pressure.

Auvik was one of the names that came up most. It’s well-established, widely used, and does a lot of things well. But after digging into it — and talking to the people using it every day — we kept seeing the same friction points. We built Palpabl to solve them.

Here’s how the two compare.

Features: What We Built That Auvik Doesn’t Have

We want to be fair here — Auvik covers the fundamentals well. Auto-discovery, config monitoring, multi-tenant support, RBAC. These are table stakes in 2026 and Auvik delivers them.

But there are things we built into Palpabl from day one that we felt were missing:

Point-in-time topology recall. Your network isn’t static. Being able to pull up exactly what your topology looked like at a specific moment in time — before an incident, after a change — is something we consider essential. It’s built into Palpabl natively.

Agentic triage and natural language control. We integrated LLM-powered assistance directly into the product. That means your team can ask questions about your network in plain English and get actionable answers — not just raw data. It also opens the door to real network automation: letting the platform act on what it finds, not just report it. Auvik doesn’t offer this.

A standalone Windows and Linux agent — coming soon. Deployment shouldn’t require a heavy lift. We’re building an agent that runs on both platforms without complex configuration, designed to make onboarding significantly faster for SMB environments. It’s next up on our roadmap.

Runbooks and playbooks — on the roadmap. When something goes wrong, your team shouldn’t be hunting for documentation. We’re building runbooks and playbooks directly into the workflow so the right steps are always one click away. This is coming in a future release.

Pricing: We Built for SMBs, Not Enterprise Budgets

Auvik’s per-device pricing model made sense when it was designed. But for SMBs managing growing environments, it creates a problem: the more you scale, the more unpredictable your bill gets. We’ve talked to teams paying thousands per month who still feel like they’re not getting the full picture.

We designed Palpabl’s pricing to stay predictable as you grow. When you’re comparing network management software pricing, the per-device model looks reasonable until your environment scales — and suddenly it isn’t. We believe the cost of visibility shouldn’t increase every time you add a switch. If budget is part of the conversation — and it almost always is — we think that distinction is worth factoring in.

The UI: This One Is Personal

We’ll be direct here. One of the biggest reasons we built Palpabl was the UI.

Auvik works. But spending time in it feels like using a capable tool that was built for a different era — dense, layered, and requiring more clicks than it should to get to what you need. When you’re troubleshooting an outage at 2am, that friction costs real time.

We designed Palpabl to feel fast and clear from the first login. Network maps generate automatically and are visually intuitive. Alerts surface with context, not just noise. Everything your team needs — diagrams, configs, device management — is accessible without navigating a maze of menus.

It’s not just an aesthetic preference. A tool your team actually enjoys using is a tool they’ll actually use.

Who Auvik Is Still Right For

We’re not here to tell you Auvik is a bad product. If you’re a large MSP managing hundreds of clients with a dedicated team that’s already embedded in the Auvik ecosystem, switching costs are real and the tool will serve you.

But if you’re an SMB, a growing MSP, or an IT team that’s tired of paying for complexity you don’t need — we built Palpabl for you. If you’re looking for an Auvik alternative that’s built for the way modern IT teams actually work, that’s exactly what we set out to create.

Why We Think You Should Try Palpabl

Palpabl is live and we’re actively onboarding users. We ship new features continuously — and the teams using it now are helping shape what it becomes. If you want to be part of that, we’d love to have you.

If you’ve ever looked at your network monitoring tool and thought “there has to be something better than this” — we’d love to show you what we’ve built.

How to Choose Network Monitoring Software for SMBs

Most SMBs don’t have a network visibility problem. They have a wrong-tool problem. This guide walks through five things to evaluate before you commit to a network monitoring tool — including the questions vendors hope you don’t ask.
